Key:

The following types of application have been logged with Surrey Heath Building Control . Please be advised where the status of the application is not complete, then we have not completed the application and there will be no completion certificate available:

• FP – Building Control approval with Full Plans
• BN – Building Notice
• RG – Regularisation
• RV – Reversion application
• DM - Demolition Notice
• DS - Dangerous Structure
• UW - Unauthorised Work

Explanation Regarding Completion Certificates Prior to 1991

Please note that Completion certificates were not issued prior to 1991 as they were not provided for in the Building Regulations.

Explanation Regarding Completion Certificates Prior to 2013

Before 2013, there was no statutory requirement for local authorities to issue completion certificates for all building work. While some authorities chose to implement procedures to issue these certificates voluntarily, this was not consistent across the country. Generally, the further back in time the work was completed, the less likely it is that a completion certificate would have been issued.

As a result, applications deposited with us for building work carried out and/or completed before 2013, it may not be possible to provide a formal completion certificate. However, we may be able to offer an alternative: a letter outlining the building work relevant to your application and our position regarding any potential enforcement action.

• IN – Initial Notice – This application has been dealt with by a private Building Control body and we do not hold paperwork relating to this
• CPS – Competent Persons Scheme – This is a notification only and we do not hold paperwork relating to this
• CF - Cavity fill insulation - This is a notification only and we do not hold paperwork relating to this
• WF - Window replacement - This is a notification only and we do not hold paperwork relating to this
